Passed by Maine Democratic Party, 2004
Editors' Note: Introducing positions
into any local or state political party's platform is one effective
tool for broadening awareness of important issues among politically
active citizens. Here's one example from Maine. Related
platforms and resolutions have been passed in Washington, Oklahoma,
and New
Hampshire.
Amendment #16, Section III, Economic Development
Add:
Since the founders of the US government did not intend to allow
corporations to be included in the definition of the word "person" and "people" in
the US Constitution, and other founding principles and documents,
corporations may not claim they are "persons" or "people" under
the US Constitution and obtain Constitutional rights thereby.
